Black Texans and the Future of Education: Insights from the 2025 Report
The State of Black Texas 2025 offers a concise overview of the history, contributions, and policy challenges shaping Black life in Texas. It pairs a historical narrative with new survey data from 900 parents examining how families view K–12 education, the TEFA program, and civic learning. The report delivers a clear picture of the lived experience of Black Texans and the issues that will shape the state’s future.
The Barbara Jordan Public Policy Research and Survey Center surveyed 3,000 likely Democratic and Republican primary voters in August 2025 to understand their policy views ahead of the 2026 primaries. The findings show sharp partisan divides on abortion, marijuana legalization, gun laws, immigration enforcement, and birthright citizenship. Together, these results reveal a deeply polarized policy landscape shaping Texas politics ahead of the upcoming election cycle.
